Perfect Your Presentations By Avoiding Common Mistakes

Sure, we all know the basics of a good presentation: Pre-speech practice, good eye contact, not reading notes and slides word-for-word…But, there are some lesser-known “don’ts” that may sully an otherwise successful presentation:

  • Using outdated PowerPoint. – Think no one in the audience will notice you’re using PowerPoint 2003? Guess again.
  • Pointing out your own mistakes – Just because you stumble, doesn’t mean you have to let your audience know.
  • Going crazy with colors – Some color combinations are too hard to read and not very easy on the eyes (green and blue, for example).
  • Including cartoons and clip art – There are many Internet sites that offer professional, and free, stock photos, which add the right touch of professionalism to presentations.
