Out-of-Home Should Weather Recession Well

According to Media Buyer Planner, while total ad revenue may continue to be down in 2009, digital components led by cinema advertising, in-store networks and digital billboards should fare well.

Estimates for out-of-home in 2009 put the category flat or up slightly, according to Media Week.

The three biggest US out-of-home companies – Clear Channel Outdoor, CBS Outdoor and Lamar – showed negative numbers in the third quarter of 2008 and are expecting negative numbers for fourth quarter as well. But the Outdoor Advertising Association predicts a full recovery by 2010.
