Cinema Is Where It’s At
With cinema ad revenue climbing, it’s no wonder movie theaters are trying all sorts of new gimmicky ways to advertise. National CineMedia just announced they will be running 3D ads as well as collaborating with Jagtag to interact with mobile-users at the movies.

Movie Magic: Ads Pop Out (at you) and Up (in revenue)
Selling cinema advertising ain’t so bad these days. The Cinema Advertising Council claims the industry has not suffered the same losses that other media have in the past few years. President Michael Chico says, “We’ve not had one downturn since this whole economic crisis started. In 2008, we were up year-over-year. In terms of 2009, we’re up also. And in 2010, the industry is trending to budget, if not towards even more positive results.” That sounds like a challenge to me! Here are some tidbits for you to hit those numbers this year:

Automotive Boosts Revised Revenue Forecasts for Most Media
Can you stand one more advertising revenue forecast? The first quarter has just ended, and revised 2010 forecasts are popping up. A new forecast from Barclays Capital has ad revenue numbers for some traditional media types being revised up instead of down for the first time in several quarters.

Bright Lights, Big Money for the Movies
2010 is looking bright for movie theaters — with all the moola rolling in from Avatarising, er, I mean ADVERTISING! The Cinema Advertising Council reports that ZenithOptimedia and Magna are forecasting gains in cinema advertising for the year. Woohoo! The CAC’s own research finds that their members have seen increases in spending for 6 years straight — at an average of 21.5%. From 2007 to 2008, the spend went up 5.8% to $571 million.
